Description

FANCL Facial Washing Powder is a preservative-free amino acid-based powder cleanser that transforms into a dense, springy foam on contact with water. Formulated with FANCL's proprietary Moisture-Keep Cleansing Component α — a blend of amino acid surfactants derived from coconut, palm, and sunflower fatty acids — it removes sebum, keratin plugs, and dull surface cells while leaving skin noticeably soft and primed to absorb the next step in your routine. Available at Matsumotokiyoshi across Japan.

The amino acid surfactant complex is the cleansing backbone: gentle enough for daily use on sensitive skin, effective enough to clear congested pores without stripping. A Hydra-Clear Complex of glucose-derived polysaccharide and hyaluronic acid keeps moisture levels stable during the wash and helps minimise post-cleanse tightness.

50g, approximately 60 uses at a teaspoon per wash. FANCL Mutenka formula — no preservatives, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colorants, petroleum surfactants, or UV absorbers. Comes with a foam-net for easy lather building.

Key Ingredients

  • Lauroyl Glutamate Na (Amino Acid Surfactant) — primary cleanser derived from coconut fatty acid and glutamic acid; cleans without disrupting the skin's natural acid mantle
  • Myristoyl Glutamate Na & Lauroyl Aspartate Na — secondary amino acid surfactants that contribute to foam density and improve rinse-off feel
  • Hyaluronic Acid — incorporated directly in the powder formula to help maintain skin hydration through the cleansing process
  • Alpha-Glucan (Glucose-Derived Polysaccharide) — conditions the skin surface and helps minimise tightness after rinsing

HOW TO USE

  1. Measure approximately one teaspoon of powder into clean, dry palms.
  2. Add a small amount of lukewarm water and work into a dense foam — use the included net for faster, finer lather.
  3. Apply foam gently to face in circular motions without pressing the powder directly onto skin.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then pat dry.
  5. Pro tip: use morning and evening — this formula has no exfoliating enzymes, so daily double-cleansing use is appropriate.

FAQ

Is this the same as an enzyme powder wash?

No. FANCL Facial Washing Powder contains no exfoliating enzymes — it is a pure amino acid cleanser in powder form. This makes it appropriate for daily use, including on sensitive skin, whereas enzyme washes are typically limited to 2–3 times per week.

How is this different from Suisai Beauty Clear Enzyme Powder?

Suisai contains proteolytic and lipase enzymes for deeper exfoliation and is best used 2–3 times weekly. FANCL Washing Powder has no enzymes — it's a gentle daily cleanser that prioritises moisture retention. Use both in rotation, or use FANCL daily and Suisai 2–3x weekly.

Can I use this without a foam net?

Yes — the powder dissolves quickly in water and lathers well by hand. The included foam net simply helps build a finer, denser lather faster.

FANCL Washing Powder vs. FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil — do I need both?

Yes, for different steps. The Cleansing Oil removes makeup and heavy sebum in the first cleanse. The Washing Powder is for the second cleanse — a gentle daily wash to clear what the oil step leaves behind and prep skin for toner.

Is this the Japan-domestic version?

Yes. This is the Japan-domestic formula sold at Matsumotokiyoshi and across Japanese drugstores. TokyoShelf sources directly from Tokyo — not export versions or gray-market supply.
